I view racism as meaning (in today’s world) you wish harm or assume someone of another race is “not as good” as you just because they are a certain color, race, religion etc. By this defi, I am NOT a racist.

However, is it a fair way to live my life that when I for example, meet a Chinese person, I assume that he is likely better at math, shorter than me and that when I hear someone is catholic I assume they may have more children than me and that if I hear a group of white people have been arrested in a rural parish that it is more like for Meth than for crack and that if I hear a man was murdered in north baton rouge that chances are he was black and he was killed by another black man?

In other words, based on statistics and my life experiences I can make assumptions. Now, these assumptions may be 100% wrong once I learn the facts, but am I a “racist” because I may think this way at first? When I hear someone is a Miss St fan I assume they will know more about college baseball than a UK fan where I would assume he knows more about college basketball.

So my bottom line question is it wrong to assume (again not conclude until I have facts), but assume things?

I have stated before, I am prejudice not racist.

Prejudice keeps you alive. Racism breeds hate.

Stereotypes exist for a reason.

If you are black, then they mean the same. Any other race understands the difference.

Racism by definition is irrational.

Stereotypes are based in some form of truth.

There are definitions of both. They're different.

Because they are true 99.9% of the time. There will always be outliers to every stereotype, but uncommon.

Basic common sense IMO
