thinking about upgrading to one. I hate my s3, so I am apprehensive about upgrading to another samsung product but figured that the one thing I do like about the s3 is the bigger screen, would be an even bigger plus on the note. how is the battery life?

I charge it at night. Use it heavily during the day. Finish up with about 20% by about 11. Usually. My biggest complaint is it is very hard to text and drive, which is actually a good thing, but it irritates me. Can't swype ale way across the keyboard with one hand. When I remember though, the Google voice to text works really well.

Note 4 will be coming out in a couple of months....

Fist pump

Edit- ok maybe 4-5 months before they are available for purchase. I've got a Note 2 now and my upgrade will be available around the time the 4 comes out

This. Battery should get you all the way through the day most of the time. And yeah lol, its size has stopped me from texting and driving fortunately, and the voice to text is very good for that.

Fantastic phone. Got it in early March, and still love it. One of the best phones I've ever had. The size may seem like too much to an outsider, but once you get used to having all that real estate, it's hard to imagine going back to a smaller screen.

I had note 1 and it was sluggish, but note 3 is very smooth. I don't really feel the need to upgrade for a while because it's already fast. I think Note 3 has already reached the point of diminishing returns.

My wife has it and loves it.

That being said, wait for the Note 4.

If you are thinking about it, know this: The bootloader on ATT and Verizon is locked the frick down and probably won't ever be exploited or unlocked. They were able to find a workaround on ATT using Safestrap (but it only allows root access, can't flash custom roms, unless they are touchwiz based), but the 4.4.2 update broke it and there still isn't a fix.

This probably won't matter to you if you don't worry with rooting and/or flashing roms.

Other than that, I like the phone. I've had it since October and it hasn't slowed down at all. The base model comes with 32G with 128 expandable storage, which is nice if storage is your thing. Battery is great.

If you go into settings>controls>one-handed operation, you can set the phone up to go to one-handed operations. Like if you swipe onto, then off the screen it will shrink to screen making it smaller, thus easier to perform one-handed operations. You can also change the setting so that the keyboard is always smaller and pushed to the side.

I had the note 1. Switched back to my iphone 4 because the battery would be halfway dead before I left the house in the morning. Got the s4, and loved it. Then the Note 3 came out. I talked to the Samsung lady at Best Buy for about an hour regarding the battery life on the Note 3, and she convinced me to buy it. One of the reasons I got it was so I didn't have to worry about carrying a tablet or PC around with me ALL the time. (I'm a photographer on the side, and it helps to be able to show people photos of past projects without having to carry the other things around)

I love the Note 3, got it in Feburary and haven't had an issue with it. The battery life on this thing is amazing for the size. I'm always around 60% when I leave work, and that's streaming pandora and texting/facebooking all day.

with all that being said,if you can wait til the 4, I would.

Note 3 is a great phone. I just think that TouchWiz bogs it down big time

anyone have an s3 and then moved to note 3?

some of my complaints about the s3.

native email app was terrible, wouldnt go grab email like it should have. ended up installing k9 mail which worked better.

also didnt like the native text app, ended up installing textra. I think its because I would reply to a text that just came in but it would reply to the last person I had texted instead of the text that just came in.

browser sucks. if I am on craigslist and clicking links in the farm section, if I click on a link then click back and then click on a new link, it brings me back to the previous link I had clicked on. almost like the screen cached the last link I clicked. for it not to do that I have to wait like 2-3 seconds for the screen to fully load.

also have alot of issues with my palm tapping the bottom right corner whem texting or emailing or making a call and it goes back. it seems way too sensitive right on the edge. its pretty aggravating.

also the video outout has never worked worth a frick. none of the cables would work at all to output video, and I tried at least 5 of them. I did find a multimedia dock that worked but I broke it and never could get another one to work.

another thing is the at&t voicemail never worked. probably an at&t issue but I ended up having install something called hullomail, which allowed me to retrieve my voicemail without calling in.

another thing is the led. mine just blinks constantly. even if I clear notifications it starts blinking again even if I get no voicemail, text, calls, or emails.

so yeah, this s3 has been a disaster for me outside of the screen size.

I went from s3 to note 2 and it was significantly better.. Although I didn't have all those issues you are having with my s3..Pretty sure you can get the note 3 and return with a small restocking fee if you don't like it.. Allows you to know for sure that you are making the right choice.

Eta: I use textra and Boat browser.I do use the stock Gmail app and it works great
