I've heard mostly negative remarks, mainly accusing its programs of liberal bias.

But the more I listen to it, the more I find its news reports very enlightening, and its regular programming extremely entertaining and educational.

I don't think enough people take advantage of the grade A programming NPR broadcasts 24/7. Hard to believe it's free.

What's your favorite NPR program?

As long as they are playing music it's ok. Once they start talking politics then its left wing bs.

They can make almost anything interesting. I've had a song stuck in my head all day from one of the stories this morning.

Like everything else, NPR itself is fine. The vegan, tree-hugging morons who claim NPR like a badge are what drives the perception.

Car Talk is pretty entertaining. I don't listen to anything in particular, just whatever I happen to catch when I'm driving. I think that it treats pieces or stories generally in a way that I tend to find more in depth and interesting.

Last weekend I had it on for some background noise, and I wasn't really paying attention. Then I slowly came to the realization that it was some guy blubbering about how he had been lied to and mislead or something. I had to switch off of that with a quickness. shite was really killing my mood.

On the next hour of Morning Edition, we will have a renowned Harvard professor to discuss his findings from a new scientific study showing an inverse relationship between hypothetical shite eaten and intelligence quotient. Please stay tuned and thank you for listening to Morning Edition.

I like NPR a lot. The people that accuse it of liberal bias are not listening to the majority of the programming. At its worst, it's about as biased as CNN. I have definitely heard some segments in which it was clear the host was leaning left or was allowing his/her guests to take it in that direction a bit too far. But for the most part, I find it is largely unbiased and that a lot of the reporting that isn't political is simply well done and factual, omitting bias entirely.

I'm a big fan of Wait Wait, Ask Me Another, Sound Opinions, Radiolab, and All Things Considered. I like Morning Edition and when the Diane Rehm Show is hosted by someone other than Diane Rehm, I enjoy it. I just can't stand her voice.
I also like the World, though that's on NPR through PRI. And the BBC segments can be good.

Sadly enough, I listen to NPR and ESPN radio almost exclusively. If they are sucking, I turn on my iPod. Can't stand most of the radio stations.

I'd be willing to bet there's a correlation between people who like/hate NPR and IQ

eta: not saying anyone who doesn't like NPR is stupid, just that there might be a slight correlation

I really like it. I enjoy listening to On Point in the mornings. Usually a pretty good mix of topics that give both sides good air time. Fresh Air usually has good conversations. Radio Lab is amazing and probably my favorite radio program of all times. Freakanomics and This American Life are pretty good too. Some of the morning and evening news shows can drag a little when they get into interest pieces.
