I will admit, nearly all of the people I've heard bash NPR work in a Plant.

Meh. They both suck arse, but for different reasons. IMHO. I really do believe CNN is more moderate, but their reporting and the stories they choose to cover are downright atrocious.

My dad worked in a plant when I was little. He hates NPR.

It checks out.

I've listened for years, but over the last year it's seemed like their market and healthcare reporting have gotten pretty right wing. I still listen, though. Morning Edition and All Things Considered are my standard commute faire, and I love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Additionally, my station does a Saturday night jazz/swing show, and old-timey radio show broadcasts on Sunday nights.

A lotta Pugh research bs and they definitely lean left. There is some really good programming on there too though. Like their freakonomics , and biz segments and most of the weekend non news programming.

they are essentially two sides of the same coin

Would you say NPR is more moderate than CNN?

They have a slight left wing bias, but it's not outrageous like the news networks. Also, there isn't constant arguing when you put it on. I think it's informative and listen to it often.

Only if you say Fox is equally moderate

Equally moderate to NPR or equally moderate to CNN?

I listen to NPR a lot. My news comes from NPR and the Wall Street Journal. Mainstream media has become so dumbed down that it useless. NPR covers things in depth which is what I want. Do they have a left wing bias? Definitely, and even more so since Obama was elected. I can filter that.

Aside from the news I like Car Talk, Prairie Home Companion, Whad'ya Know, Radio Lab, This American Life. NPR is playing on my computer a good bit of the day while I'm working. The BBC is also good and even more left wing.

Well put.

And I really think their left-leaning tendencies are a little overstated, to be honest. They definitely don't shove it down our throats like MSNBC or Fox do with their agendas.

To clarify- he means NOT the human organ but the news organ.

I listen to the British Broadcasting Corporation and RTÉ for most of my news. American broadcast journalism is messed up.

"This American Life" and PHC are entertaining.

Definitely. Listening to people talk over each other and non stop play to emotions is not informative. It's annoying.

NPR is great, but it's kind of like heroin. You are addicted to your normal routine, but then one day a pledge drive starts and you go through painful withdrawls until it ends .
