Miami hotel and nightlife info

I have a bachelor party in Key West Friday-Monday on labor day weekend. The majority of the crew will be flying into MIA late Friday then driving to key west around 8-9PM.
A few of us are thinking about just flying into MIA Thursday night then heading to Key West early Friday as to avoid getting into Key West at midnight on Friday.
Anyone have any hotel and nightlife recommendations for 4-5 25 year olds?

Thursday night drive to KW might be an hour or more faster than the friday day drive, FWIW

Southwest just discontinued service in Key West and the other airlines are much more expensive. Our house is also only rented for Friday-Monday

the drive from miami to key west sucks, it's soooooo slow. 4-5 hours

I see you change it from 8
when its not busy you can make it in about 1:45, normal is 3, busy(fridays) can be 4-6.
Its taken me 6.5 before from key largo

well i was thinking 8 from fort myers area that's where i drove from. i do remember it taking FOREVER from miami to key west. the speed limit is ridiculas.

its not the speed limit its the single lane in each direction.

it's at least a 2.5-3hr drive
as for nightlife it depends what you are looking for. if the club scene is your thing then go for south beach.
if you want more of a bar atmosphere then the brickell area is what you want. Tobacco Road was my favorite spot when I lived there

Would a hotel in Downtown Miami be a good place to stay? I've never been to Miami and have no idea about how it's set up. Not trying to spend a ton on rooms since we have a whole weekend of partying ahead of us

Yes. There is obviously tons to do and the Brickell area I mentioned is adjacent to downtown

yes lots to do, just be prepared you are in the tourist tax capitol of the world. everything is going to be pricey

go to the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood. Gamble a bit.
That is what I would lobby for if I was apart of this trip.
Dont get too torn up on Thursday. I would want to get up early on Friday to get down to Key West as early as possible.
