Do you believe there's a Marvel conspiracy?

LINK

makes some decent enough points, but at the same time I couldn't see them intentionally tanking some of their more important franchises due to a beef with Fox.

I am willing to bet they want that franchise back more than any other.

They'd want F4 more than Spiderman?

The only reason I say that is because I don't think Marvel could do anything with Spider-Man on film that we haven't already seen.

Do we really want to see Spider-Man rebooted for a third time?

The Fantastic Four is Marvels first family, I believe Marvel could probably turn them into the next billion dollar film franchise given the opportunity.

It's Good Marvel Can't Make Spider-Man & X-Men

TLDR; it forces Marvel to go into it's back catalog of other works and bring them to the silver screen that if they did have Spidey and Xmen that we would probably never see on the big screen.

We're about to see Batman for the 3rd time. After what Marvel has done, I would bet they could do better with Spiderman.

Spider-Man 2002 debut
Batman 1989 Debut

And it's not like his next appearance is his film.

Most likely because they can integrate a lot more into their current universe with the Fantastic Four as opposed to the X-Men or Spiderman. Reed Richards does a lot of work with Stark, Fury, Strange and many others so I assume that'd be the main reason to want F4 over the others.

Different circumstances over a larger time period.

rebooting Spider-Man wasn't the issue, it was doing it with an origin story EVERYONE already knows, and then trying to create this huge Spideyverse that won't even feature him a large part of the time.

if you reboot Spider-Man, just start the movie with him crawling a wall or swinging and you're golden.

As I said here in the other thread that we have on this topic.

Marvel can hide the FF all that they want... It won't affect the box office. Fantastic Four is bought by 35,000 people (well, the shops order 35,000 copies). You can reach 35,000 people with one commercial on one local TV station.

This is just lip service to the Marvel bosses and an attempt to show their comic fans that they're in charge. But the comic fans will see this movie based on the previews. No one is going to avoid a good movie out of loyalty to Marvel. And if it's a shite movie, they weren't going to see it anyway.

Actually, they can.

They can have Spider-Man against the Kingpin.
They can do the "one more day" storyline
They can have him join the Future Foundation

In fact, if they somehow get all their properties back, they can do HOUSE OF M, CIVIL WAR, SIEGE OF ASGARD, DECIMATION, ONSLAUGHT, etc.

Don't forget that they'd have the use of Dr. Doom as well.

Have you seen spiderman with the Avengers on film?

Cause Marvel could do that with him.

I think there's something to the story. Fox did rape Marvel moreso than Sony with the film deal when Marvel was in bad shape. Marvel can still use Spiderman in its animated series where Fox has all the film and animated rights for FF/Xmen.

I'm not saying Sony was nicer, they just weren't able to close a deal like Fox did.

That being said, the only credence I give this rumor is that I could see Marvel not creating new FF characters that could potentially be used in Fox films.

It's absurd to think Marvel would stop putting out an FF comicbook while a film is out and lose the boost in sales on the books they publish. Especially on a title that needs the help.

I don't believe Marvel is tampering with their X-title's in any way though. Marvel has been focusing on the Avengers corner of their universe moreso than the X-men for over 10 years now.

Yeah but we are still only on 2 actors to have played spiderman, while Ben Affleck will make 5.

The 4 pre-Nolan movies may have only showed the origin story once but with all the changes in actors and directors they basically rebooted the series 3 times.

There was no continuity, love interests would disappear and there was no mention of them in the next movie. No plot lines lingered from one movie to the next. The actors who played batman brought incredibly different personalities to the role. Hell even Gotham City never looked the same movie to movie.

Those 4 Batman movies were Like James Bond movies. Each one a separate adventure and the audience could pretend like the previous one had not existed at all, because it would have zero impact on the storyline on the next.
