I read an article this morning stating that new limits might be proposed by the LDWF for specks and reds; it actually mentioned the five speck limit in effect in Texas. This is more bullshite government intervention. On the one hand our governor is asking for a longer red snapper season while some people are talking about declining speck and red numbers. Of course none of this is based on any serious study. We have to fight this crap. SAY NO!

I think the lower speck limit will be just for southwest like it is now, maybe down to 10 because from what LA WLF is saying alot of TX guides are going to Big Lake and putting alot of pressure on the trout. For redfish, they are thinking of lowering the size limit to 14 or so inches because at that size they are not breeders yet.

Wouldn't really have a problem with that.

I rarely catch more than 10 specks in big lake anyway.

Doubt it gets moved down to 5 specks. If anything they will make everywhere have a 15 speck limit like on big lake, which I don't mind. The change in redfish will be to reduce the size limit, but I didn't read anything about changing the number of reds you can keep.

How does it help trout popultaion, if I cant keep one under 12" on my way to #25 and the dolphins get it when I slip it over the side.

Instead of just keeping the first 25

I think this is for big lake and sabine lake.

that lake probably needs it. The fishing has been getting really slim there.

Not much meat on fish smaller than 12". You wanna clean 25 9-10" trout?

I will not support this without science and without banning of oyster dredging. Those oystermen have wholly fricked up that fishery and now it is time to pay for their irresponsibility.

“And the position of the department was it’s not a biological issue, so the compromise was to do it in that part of the state as a social issue.”
