Anyone have trouble with muscle cramps?

I played full court basketball late last night, and my muscles were tightening up towards the end of the second hour, and I just knew I was in for a rough night.
At one point, my calf, hamstring, quad, and groin were all cramping at the same time. Absolutely miserable.
I must have woken up 10 times last night due to Charlie horses.
Anyone else have unbelievable cramping issues?
It feel like I was raped by Satan last night.

Just stay hydrated. Also, drink a beer or two (but no more) after the workout then drink water. Helps me.

Did you rehydrate after playing basketball? It's not inevitable, you are able to combat cramps at night by rehydrating properly.

potassium pills. bananas don't have enough. I take a potassium pill whenever I play hoops or indoor soccer. Same issue you have.

Hydration definitely killed me yesterday. I was drinking sweet tea all day. The game got thrown together late.

Yes. You need to stay hydrated and consume more potassium. Bananas, baked potatos, etc.
Just curious... are you overweight? I used to get bad charlie horses when I was slightly overweight. I have since dropped a lot of weight and dont really have issues with charlie horses anymore.

While that's important for the future, the cramps were probably a result of poor hydration far enough ahead of the basketball. You have to hydrate the day before a stressful event.
OP: Curious, what were your activities on Sunday?

Drink Tonic Water daily, the quinine will help prevent cramps.

This happened to me in the last match of my high school tennis career at the state tournament. After winning the first 6-1 the arches of my feet started to cramp. As the second set progressed the cramps worked their way up my legs to my calves, quads, hip and groin area. I became very light headed and completely stopped sweating in the heat. At 5-5 in the second my entire lower body locked up and I collapsed. After an injury timeout I tried to keep playing and it only got worse. Cramps had worked into my stomach, arms and hands. Ended up losing the set and had to fore fit. The pain was worse than I could imagine. Coach took me straight to emergency room and they got IV fluids in me. I was told later when I checked in my bpm was 132 when at rest its normally 56. Very scary stuff man. Be careful out there.

Look up Patrick Peterson. He's an expert on this issue at this point.

Not at all. I have a ridiculous metabolism. I eat like shite a lot of the time. But I eat healthy at times because I like the taste.

This happened to me in youth sports. My parents had to feed me bananas and Gatorade as I was balled up on the couch.

One of the Dr.'s at the hospital believes its genetic. My father has had em all his life. Another tennis family we know has had it happen to all their kids.

Are you seeing an Optometrist?

what sucks is when you get them in opposing muscle groups... I've had my back and stomach muscles severely cramp before and there was no way to stretch it out. Was friggin unbearable.

Pickle juice mixed with equine sperm.
