for just the 2nd time since the NCAA went to the 4-team double elimination format for the regional round... 5 of the 8 national seeds were eliminated in the 1st weekend of the tournament

and just for the 2nd time... the #1 national seed failed to make the Supers ('07 Vandy, '14 Oregon St. - '07 was the other year 5 natty seeds were lost in the regionals)

Regionals used to be a fricking cake walk because CBB was terrible.

Programs have gotten better and the trend will continue because, well baseball.

Yep. Crazy weekend but I take no comfort knowing other top seeds and regional hosts also lost. LSU should not have lost. The greatest home field advantage in college baseball was meaningless and wasted.

People keep forgetting, or failed to ever realize LSU had the second hardest regional to come out of. Houston's RPI was 8 or 9.

They were one series away from holding a national seed as well.

We lost to really good team, life will go on.

How Houston one series away from being a national seed when they didn't even host

#2 according to some websites. NCAA had them at 10. We had the 2nd most difficult regional by RPI. Florida had the toughest. U-La-La had the easiest

I don't care what the rest of the tourney outcomes were, this is embarrassing. An elite program like LSU should not loose to a Houston in a regional, at home. This is two of the last three years, as a National seed, this has happened. ONE game, maybe, but a series or double elimination tourney, no way. This LSU team had the most shutout wins this season and one of the best pitching staffs in the country. They have the strongest home field advantage in the nation and have scored the most runs in the nation over the last two weeks while running roughshod through the strongest conference tournament in baseball. No way this should happen.

However, considering what the SEC did this weekend, I suppose were all fooled about how good the SEC and LSU really are.

Oh, and frick USL..er..I mean Univ. of Louisiana at Lafayette.

This has been discussed at length...that's based on some
Pretty flawed stats.

Not saying ULs regional was harder than LSUs, but throwing the #4 seed RPI, or just solely using RPI is a pretty weak indicator

I saw they had the easiest. Had to come out of the losers bracket to get it done but hey, that's baseball. Shitty teams can look like all-Americans for 4 days and that's all it takes.

They still are depending on the draw. LSU's in 2008 and 2013 was a joke.

and yet you still have to win them... look at Indiana who got a cake regional yet they're going home. Miami and Florida State lost pretty easy regionals too...
