Gausman and Renaudo recently come to mind, but Nola has the edge on both IMO.

Gausman has been a gas can in the MLB. I don't see Nola doing that. He has too much action/movement on his ball.

Very tough to compare and say definitely especially given the changes in bats. But I'd take Nola to lead the staff anytime.

I was really young but didn't Lane Mestepy (sp) have a pretty stud year or two before injuries caught up to him.

Name a starting pitcher that got to pitch in the BBCOR era.


I'm not saying, he's not one of the greatest of all time, but its apples and oranges. You suck now with an ERA of 3.00. In 1997 you were an AA with a 3.00 ERA.

Hard to say. We've had so many great pitchers over the years. With the change in bats it's almost like two different eras altogether.

Now if Nola were to return for '15 - GOAT easily!

I think Paul Byrd has been our only All Star starting pitcher. Nola has the best shot to be next in line.
