Those graduating are being confronted by a challenging jobs market, which eventually leads many to just drop out of the labor force altogether.

In his latest monthly chart book, Deutsche Bank's Torsten Slok charts the rise of 18-34-years-olds currently in this position.
And there are a lot.
A nephew of mine just started welding school. Bright kid, could have went to college but chose to work with his hands. 10 Years ago I would've thought "what a waste". Now, not so much.

A lot of 18 and 19 year olds are still in HS.

They should start more kids on to trade school classes in High School like they do with college credits.

Wonder how it breaks out among 18-24 and 25-34.
That graph follows recessionary periods very closely. Early 80's (sharp), late 90's (modest), and the "great recession" of 00's and 10's.
Hey millennials, ever hear of a throwaway service job, roommate or two, and independence? It's glorious!!

I'm 25 years old and have been living at home since I graduated in 2011. Was able to save a ton of $$ and do not regret it for a bit. I just recently went back to school, so I'll be at home until about 28 or so. Logistically, it makes tons of sense for someone in my situation.

They did this at my high school for seniors because regardless if you had enough credits to graduate you still had to go all day and take classes or go to the local trade school and take classes there.

Maybe its a good thing..some of these people have so much student loan debt, they realize it makes sense to take the less glamorous route of moving in with your parents
