I find that google chrome is fastest browser but I am not sure on the science behind that.

I've been using Internet Explorer to stream games without a hitch

Don't know about browser.
If it is possible for you to connect your laptop to a wired Ethernet cable instead of using wireless it will certainly help with the quality.

You can also stream it through an Xbox 360 via the Espn app. I did it last night, pretty high-quality.

Chrome all weekend with no problems. I used both a hardwire and wifi via Cox to connect and really didn't notice that much of a difference.
