lots of ways.

i highly recommend an AVR if you don't have one. what if you want to add a roku or chromecast?

if you dont have that, i need more info..which xbox? 360? one? original?

how many hdmi ports does your tv have? how is your 'surround sound' using an HDMI port up?

Yeah I'm not too tech savvy. But my tv has 2 hdmi connections. I just have one cord ran from surround sound to TV and one cord from cable box to TV

Probably back feeding to his receiver...If so, I recommend going the other way..ATT/XBox to receiver, then (1) HDMI to the tv

Is your "surround sound" a receiver with multiple HDMI inputs? If so, everything should run through the receiver then one HDMI to your TV.

You are doing it wrong.

But you have come to the right place.

Give us more info. What brand and model is your surround sound ?

This is the preferred setup. You might also run a TOS link from the TV to your surround sound amplifier and disable the TV speakers. That will free up one of the HDMI ports.
