If players become "employees", doesn't that mean they are on limits

I am all for not saying anything bad about an athlete-student or a student-athlete, but wouldn't an employee be fair game for "not having to watch what you say about them."

I get what you are going for, but saying "on limits" is an odd way to say it. Id go with fair game.
