Talk to me about current android phones (AT&T)

I've got an upgrade coming in October and I'm probably going to make the switch over to android. I just have a few simple questions as of now.
1. I'm looking at the galaxy s5 and see the S5 and S5 active. is the active the same with added features or were features removed in order to get the heart rate monitor and other stuff?
2. adding music from iTunes or using spotify: not really a major concern about iTunes music if spotify works. I mainly use spotify anyways, but will I be able to transfer purchases somehow?
3. Bluetooth connectivity. I connect to my deck in my truck to listen to music. does it work as well as the iPhone?
4. iPhone unlimited data (grandfathered in): I'll lose this correct? this is my main concern, but if guess I'll deal with it.
5. I know nothing about the rooting process and what you can do. I jailbreak my iPhone/iPad, but I don't know if it's similar. anyone want to give me a sort of walk through or just explanation on what you can do?
TIA

I have the S5, and I have to say it's not that great. I hate that the speakers are on the back, and the phone just doesn't wow me at all.
I hear LG is coming out with a new one soon. Or, look at the M8.
ETA: I didn't know there were two different S5's. Mine has the heart rate monitor.
I got rid of my unlimited data plan a while ago. I was never using more than 3 gigs a month and I was paying close to 150 after taxes and fees. Now, I have a mobile sharing plan with 10 gigs for almost the same price. I have two cell phones and a laptop and tablet on that plan.

I can answer 4. I was also concerned about this. Switched from iPhone 5 to my new galaxy s5. Still unlimited data

2. Apple is developing an iTunes app for Android. I have a S3 and my wife has iPhone 5, we have one spotify acct that works on both.
4. We have both upgraded phones over the years and have been able to keep our unlimited plans.

really? with AT&T? if I can keep unlimited, I will be ecstatic.
sabi, did you have the s4 prior to the s5? I've read a bunch of stuff saying the s5 was disappointing because it wasn't much of an upgrade from the s4. I feel like that wouldn't bother me since I'm coming from the iPhone, not the s4.
any recs on other phones would be appreciated as well.

I actually had the BBZ10 before this one. But, I've read the same thing. I honestly expected much more.

2. You can move everything you've purchased in iTunes to your new android device.
4. No sir you will not. Just make sure that if you activate it in a store you tell them specifically that you want to keep your plan the way it is.

Yeah, he's right. Upgrading does not affect your contract with AT&T.

what's so disappointing about it? I thought androids all ran the same OS, so do they each have different features exclusive to the phone? or is it that the camera or durability, etc are disappointing? I've heard people didn't like the plastic covers, but the s5 active is metal I believe or at least it's more rugged and durable from what I've read.

The camera is good, except for the front facing camera. It kinda sucks.
Mine came with a rubber back, which was cool. But, I bought this leather case for it that replaces the back and it sucks. If my phone falls, even on carpet, the back of the phone falls off. This phone is supposed to be waterproof, but it doesn't feel very durable to me.
OS is the same, yes. I just am not impressed with it. Retail on this phone is over 700 bucks, and I honestly don't see what makes it better than the Nexus 5, which is a much cheaper phone.

Get an N5 and plug your sim in. Worth it

It's not very responsive and I'm always hitting the stupid Google voice button. Doing that messes it up. You'll get out of the voice command and press space and then the cursor goes somewhere crazy after every word. I'm not very tech savvy, though, so I may just be dumb with it.
