I don't think I can support Simmons batting higher than 8th.

Hopefully Santana can get back on track tonight. 17 ER in his last 17 IP.

Shae Simmons

Looks like the guy has been a beast in his short minor league career.

This year with Mississippi:

20 games
23 IP
0.78 ERA
0.913 WHIP
11.7 K/9
2.3 BB/9
0 HR

Simmons hasn't had a HR hit off him in his professional career.

On that line drive, could the SS have just knocked it down with his glove and then turned the double play, or would they retroactively call it an infield fly?

no infield flies on line drives, but you also can't legally drop a line drive

Figured it wouldn't be an infield fly, but I never knew you can't legally drop a line drive. What happens if you do?

Ah ok. Never knew that rule, but it makes sense. I'm assuming it's just the ump's discretion as to whether it was dropped intentionally?
