So I proposed a rule for my 10-team, auction keeper league for this upcoming season, and I wanted to gauge what this board thinks of it.

Essentially, it would allow for offseason trades. A person would be able to trade a player from their roster, and in return could receive either player(s) or cash which could be used in the upcoming draft.

We can only keep 3 players total, and only one from a given position. So for example, if I have two solid RBs, I can only keep one, but if we allowed this rule I could trade the other away either for money or for cash.

It's up for a league vote, and some arguments against have been made that I don't disagree with completely, mainly being that the draft pool would become diluted if it was allowed.

Thoughts?

You only keep 3 players... the draft pool won't be diluted.

Pretty standard practice in any keeper league. Don't see the big deal

The concern from those opposing is that a stud player could be traded to another team for a mediocre player simply because they can't be kept, but my argument is that no one would want to strengthen another team without equally strengthening theirs.

Just as an example, I have Forte and Charles, and can only keep one. So I would like to trade one of them for either another player at a position I could keep or for more money for the draft.

If it's money then that's not fair.
You are colluding with someone to give them a player for cheaper that auction value.

Ex. Forte would be $48 if at action and everyone bidding
You're giving him to someone without bidding for say $28.
That really isn't correct.

When season over you keep 3...you don't keep rights to 16. before any moves can be made

on phone bad a4ea. ..you 3 keepers have to be established imho

And that's just common sense. Seems like they just don't want to change just because they don't want to try something new. Nothing wrong with not wanting to change but the excuse is pretty lame.

^ which is why putting a restriction on positions is dumb in an auction league. If you are keeping studs at the same position, fine. But you will be spending a lot of your budget on 1 position.

At the same time, it's only a 10 team league, so you could keep 2 RBs and still be fine at other positions.

I would

1. Add 2 more people to the league

2. Don't restrict positions that can be kept

3. Allow offseason trading of players only, not Kash

And while I admit that this could happen, I don't think it would for 2 reasons:

1. Why would someone give such an advantage to a future opponent?

2. Any offseason trades would have to be voted on by the league just like a normal trade, so a trade like this would never go through anyway.
