iPhone 5 keeps freezing, help needed!

My device is hardly recognizing any touch or physical contact with the screen face. I closed all apps, turned the device off but the phone still goes haywire and freezes up. Any help will be appreciated.

Did you drop it in the water or something?
If not and it's less than a year old take it to the Apple Store and they will give you a refurbished one.

Happens to my 5s several times a week since I bought it. Also happened with my 4s when I was using it toward the end. I think it's just part of iOS that I've come to accept for the next 15 months.
