In 67 appearance for the U.S. Jozy has scored 21 times including two hat tricks. Our record in those 16 games is (W-D-L) 13-3-0.

Obviously we need scoring regardless of the source but when Jozy is on this team plays so much better (stating the obvious I know).

We basically need to capitalize on every chance. Scary thing is that Jozy doesn't seem too keen to shoot.

I look for him to do well holding up the ball and helping our midfielders come on for shots but I would be shocked if he scores more than 1 and would bet on zero.

He needs someone who can make runs off of him and open up space. He's not the greatest in tight spaces, but if he has room to run into and has time to pick out a shot, I think he can do well. See: Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Great meaningless stat. Were any of these wins against Germany, Portugal or Ghana? Any of the draws?

Beat Mexico, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, Turkey, and B&H. One of the draws was Poland.

The stat is not meaningless. Jozy's ability to score gives this team another scoring threat especially on a Donovan-less team.

ETA: I thought you were saying the competition just wasn't good but you were probing about our Group. He's only played Ghana the one time.

I think the key will be our backlines ability to stay organized, and in particular the 2 center backs ability to not make mistakes.

This is true too. There are a lot of things that we have to consider about this team in order for us to be successful. I just found it interesting that we've never lost when Jozy has scored in a U.S. uniform.

yeah, i think the key to winning will be not giving up many goals and scoring lots of goals. really, i guess we just need to score more than the team we are playing.

We scored 3 goals against Slovenia and 2 against Algeria but the refs didn't count all of them so scoring more than the other team isn't always the most sound strategy.

Is the USA starting XI a better team than the Sunderland XI? If so, I think Jozy will find the net at least ONCE in 3 games.

#notthebest23
#freecakes

But I would bet zero dollars that Jozy scores in Brazil.
For a of this talk about Jurgen lately, I think we might be overlooking his greatest mistake...the diamond.

We have no idea if the diamond is our formation. We spent the good part of this cycle in a 4-2-3-1. This recent change is scaring me, and I have no idea what Jurgen prefers.

Reserving judgment until I see it against someone worth half a shite.

Overall, not really that concerned about it b/c Bradley will slot in next to Jones if we're getting the ball shoved down our throat, reminiscent of everyone's favorite Bob Bradley formation. Would scare me shitless if it was someone like Clint Dempsey ahead of Jones.

The answer to that question is probably not what you were expecting.

I never expect Jozy to score. Any time he actually does, it's lagniappe.
