Ok, I've got 2 problems..
First, my wireless router is messing up and not letting me connect to the internet. When I run the internet cable from my modem to the desktop it connects fine.
Also, how do I connect my ipad to the internet through my desktop? Thanks!!

Does it have the same problem with all wireless devices, or have you only tried one? Does the router work with wired connections? How old is the router? Consumer routers usually don't have adequate cooling, and yours could very well be shot.

LT, Phone, desktop, and ipad will not connect wirelessly (although it says im connected to net). The desktop connects when I plug internet cable from modem to back of desktop.
Also, the router is probably 2 years old..
(and yes, I've tried turning everything on/off, unplugging and resetting everything)

If turning it off and on doesnt work you probably just need a new router...my old one would let me connect but kicked me right off.

Yep, routers are little computers that actually do a lot of work, and they get hot. Cheap consumer routers don't have fans, so they often die young.

Its the Tech Board..If you honestly do not tell your end users this FIRST, you don't really work in the field..

Don't think it's possible because the ipad doesn't have an ethernet port, you cannot broadcast wireless from your desktop.

You will need to figure out how to make your desktop use its wireless card as a hotspot. I've never done it, never needed to. I will give you what I believe is a hint: Internet Connection Sharing on Windows

Try at least one other wireless device. If it doesn't work, replace the router. If the other item works it may well be a problem with your wireless NIC.
I'm not much of a Mac person, but don't iPads have wireless? If not... why the hell did you get it in the first place? (kidding!)

If you are going from the cable modem to the router via cat cable change the cable. Had this happen last month. Funny thing but a fresh cat cable between the modem and router was it.

OP is complaining that he can't connect wirelessly.

He said he can't connect to the router wirelessly but when he connects to the modem with a cable he can. The connection between the modem and the router usually involves a cat cable. If that cat cable is bad it can cause this problem. I read just fine.

Hook it all back up. Connect desktop to router with cable, connect router to modem. Post results
