*OFFICIAL* Fringe M/TV Board rewatch thread (current episodes discussion p. 26)

On the menu this week:

Season 2:

Episode 13: "What Lies Below" - Set in a quarantined Boston office building, the episode revolves around a thousands-year-old virus that infects and then influences its victims to attempt to spread the contagion outside of the building.

Episode 14: "The Bishop Revival" - The episode's storyline followed Nazi scientist Alfred Hoffman (Craig Robert Young) as he specially designed airborne toxins to kill only surrounding people with similar genetic traits, such as people with brown eyes.

Episode 15: "Jacksonville" - In the episode, Olivia is forced to recount her time spent as a child in tests conducted by Walter to regain the ability to see objects that have been influenced by the parallel universe and prevent the deaths of innocents. Though successful, Olivia comes to learn the truth about Peter, that he is from the parallel universe.

Discussion on this batch of episodes due to start Monday, August 25th. Enjoy the show.

CURRENT DISCUSSION

Episode discussion begins on ~page 34 for the following episodes:

Episode 10: "Grey Matters" - It centered around three mental patients who mysteriously became sane again after shapeshifters from the parallel universe removed a piece of foreign tissue from each of their brains; this tissue is later revealed to have been taken from the brain of Walter Bishop years before. The fringe team of Olivia Dunham, Peter Bishop, and Walter investigate and face a new enemy, Thomas Jerome Newton (guest actor Sebastian Roché), whose purpose is to decipher the missing parts of Walter's brain and find out how to move between universes.

Episode 11: "Unearthed" - While the body of a young, recently deceased girl is being harvested of its organs, she suddenly comes back to life yelling classified naval launch codes and Russian phrases, leading the Fringe Division to a recently murdered naval officer.

Episode 12: "Johari Window" - The episode is set in a fictional upstate New York town, and begins with the discovery of a seemingly deformed child by a state trooper. The Fringe investigative team of Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop, and Peter Bishop arrive on the scene, only to discover a secret government experiment gone awry, with signs from Walter's past.

Note to people who haven't seen the series:
Please feel free to join in at any time, but know that there will be spoilerish things discussed since this is a REWATCH. So while you may not get too many things spoiled on you for the most part, eventually the discussion will begin to tie in with future happenings on the show. So be prepared for that. However, I actually think this could be a really cool way to experience the series for the first time, so you're more than welcome to participate.

Original post:

So I've mentioned this several times for a while now, and it seems to have interested some. I'm thinking we could sort of "assign" 3-4 episodes a week (or whatever number works for the majority) and keep a running discussion going in this thread as the group navigates the series.

Thoughts? I need input on:

- How many episodes per viewing period
- Length of viewing period (one week is the easiest I think, but would it start on Sunday/Monday/etc?)
- How many would be interested
- Discussion format suggestions (discuss all 3-4 at once, an episode at a time, what..?)
- etc. (anything else you can think of?)

People in for this:
Cocomo
wish i was tebow
SouthofSouth
Fearthehat0307
Bryon Bojengles III
BaddestAndvari
Freauxzen (already rewatched; confirmed for discussion)
TigerMyth (potentially)
TigerinATL (partial participation because he's married and whipped)
UMRealist
Gugich
LSULEFTY
angryslugs
TH03
WhistlinDixie15
iluvdatiger (first time watcher)

Others who have expressed interest in doing this:
RicketyCricket
LewDawg
yurintrouble
gjackx (may be in)
BluegrassBelle (first time watcher)
jamsmiley

Anybody else who would want to is welcome. I'll try to keep a list here.

I know there have been several "I'm watching Fringe" threads in the last few weeks/months, so people like that would likely not want to rewatch it again so quickly, but who knows. And even still, they can always jump in on the discussion and contribute that way since it's still relatively fresh in their minds.

Anyway, this is the official thread to see what kind of interest there would be in actually doing this and sticking with it...I kinda feel like it would suck if there were only like 3 or 4 of us participating.

As for viewability:
quote:

Per a quick Google search, Fringe is on Netflix.

It also seems to be on Amazon Prime.

Also on Hulu Plus I believe (though possibly not season five yet).

And of course, you can always just buy the DVDs.

All I wanna know is....who's coming with me?

I say 4 per week is a good number. I don't think it's too many where people wouldn't be able to keep up. Discussion of all at once would be my preference.

Yeah, she hasn't posted since April 17th...weird. Anybody IRL (or even FB) friends with her?

and it was only a couple posts on that day. besides that day she hasn't posted since November. I doubt she would've gotten banned

Last time I talked to her the owner of her restaurant she was a manager at had sold his company... to her. So basically her life has changed pretty drastically, and she's the owner of a restaurant now, I don't think she has time for TD discussion like she use to.

Dammit, BA...

And Freaux, I mean participate in the thread mostly...obviously if you just rewatched the series you wouldn't have to watch the episodes again, but you could still do the episode discussions. Sort of like this is a test that you've already studied and done the homework for.

ever since I cut the chord, I find that I download stuff even less, oddly enough

Maybe it's because I keep getting promotions at work and keep making more money? iono.. (it's probably because I'm saving $70 a month and can buy a movie / tv show every once in awhile now!)
