Not sure why I just thought of this. A few weeks ago I was looking for a good romcom to watch and CA was listed on (and near the top of) many lists that I looked at online. So I figured why not?

So I watch it, and I come away pretty damn disappointed. I'm not saying "this movie SUCKS!!!" or anything like that, because obviously a lot of people do love it. But it definitely wasn't for me. I just don't really see the appeal of it I guess that makes it so highly proclaimed. How do y'all feel about it?

I chased a girl named Amy for 6 months. Won't do it again.

It's the one Kevin Smith film that can actually stand the test of time. I liked how it didn't give you the happy ending everyone was probably expecting, and even though most of us won't end up in a relationship like that, it's spot on as far showing how hard it is to get over someone's past no matter how much we'd like to think we'd brush it off.

But what do I know. I'm just a tracer.

It is Smith's most complete film. I love it.

Lee provided just enough comic relief to not make the film too Smithy. He was almost a carbon copy of Brodie, but just a little more angry and with a purpose.

What's crazy to me is that I really like Mallrats. And yeah I could defintely see some Brodie in CA.

I can't watch Mallrats anymore. A) have watched it too many times, and B) the dialogue grates me now.

I do like that you only got one Jay & Silent Bob scene. Loved that speech.

Funny tidbit to that is Smith was always on to Affleck about changing the script, adding his little PS to lines of dialogue thinking it would add to the movie. In that scene, Smith kept forgetting his lines and was trying to ad lib some of it, and Affleck was losing his mind

We all have opinions.

Haven't watched it in some time, but the last time I tried I got bored really quickly. I guess the Superman/kryponite condom speech doesn't hit me like it used ot.

I never really cared for Chasing Amy.

Of the Smith movies I've seen, it is probably my least favorite.

I liked it albeit it's probably been ten years or so since I've seen it.

This.

It's also his only film with a fully realized and executed point. Everything else is Kevin Smith being Kevin Smith which is hit or miss.

(Except for Jersey Girl which is generally underrated.)

I agree with this statement. I personally think it is the best Kevin Smith movie from all standpoints, it just might not be people's favorite Kevin Smith movie (including myself). There is a good bit of reality going on in Chasing Amy.

Personally, Dogma is easily my favorite Smith movie followed by either Mallrats or Strike Back. Contrary to most people, I hate Clerks 1 and have seen it several times, just can't seem to enjoy it like most other people.

The "we have to have homosexual sex to understand something about loving a lesbian" is why I hate Ben Affleck to this day.

I thought it was well put together - a guy-friendly RomCom - and Affleck's best lead performance.

Jason Lee is money in everything he does - while Mallrats is a better comedy, and Dogma is a better movie - this is the most balanced and mature Kevin Smith film, IMHO.

Not saying it is one of the best films of all time, but way above average - particularly for a guy who wants to watch a RomCom with a girl - although most girls will not like the nerdy overtones of the film.

I loved it on the first viewing but was afraid to watch it again. Clerks and Mallrats didn't hold up that well on second viewings.

I finally watched it again. It held up fairly well, but not as great as the first viewing.

I do like the name, "Fingercuffs".
