Vizio HD50 Plasma won't come on

Power light is lit but the screen is dark gray and no sound.
Is it possible that a control board change might make it work? They aren't too much on ebay.

Have you tried different sources? Different inputs?

look to the power supply board first.
coworker of mine had this happen after his house was hit by lightning.
he took off th back panel and saw that a couple fuses were blown and a few caps had popped.
the power supply board was only like 100 bucks to replace i think.

I had one do this. I spent $7 at Radio Shack for new set of capacitors and soldered them in myself. It worked perfectly after that.

there was some reason he didn't just replace the caps, i cant remember exactly though. maybe damage to the actual board or something.

yeah, the board itself was probably burned during the surge. I got lucky with that.
