For the hell of it I looked up the reaction to the George Springer selection in the 2011 MLB draft....

Would have bumped but thread is locked sooooo link to thread

go with jungmann, astros, and be very happy.

If we do pass on Jungmann Ill be disappointed.

quote:

ProjectP2294

Jungmann to the Astros would be such a slam dunk that really only the Astros could screw it up.

Astros taking Springer

frick

eta: You are passing on an obvious pick

Sonofabitch

but guys, he is arguably the best player in UCONN baseball history!!!!

and he trained as a gymnast

That's why I said 'more' of a sure thing; I realize a lot of pitchers will fizzle out, but compared to who the Stros selected, I would bet my money on Jungmann being more successful.

A bunch of retards on a message board don't know as much as a professional baseball team's front office? Color me shocked.

dont really pay much attention to the draft so i didnt have much of an opinion on the pick at the time but it looks like a hell of a pick for the stros now.

Scared the DAT thread was dead and your boom moment would be lost?

Springer is a rookie. Let me edit and add his May stats in from the DAT.

quote:

George Springer's road trip: 10 for 23, 5 HRs, 12 RBI, 11 runs & 2 games missed with hip flexor. He leads club in HRs and ties for RBI lead

Didn't see what else I was looking for, but he is batting .307 in May and he is young. Maybe the Astros just found their future star.

My initial reaction to the pick was less than positive.

That is a pretty good first round overall.

Springer is a rookie who has played in 35 games. He will cut down on the Ks in time and only get better as he progresses.

Oh look, the Orioles top 5 pick has already had Tommy John surgery and went a full year without throwing a baseball. That was emminently predictable. God, our pitching is cursed.

honestly I knew not enough to have a reaction, other than the fact I disliked the way Drayton ran the team into the ground over those final years.

After the Cubs took Baez:

lol @ the cubs

quote:

lolololol Cubs

quote:

Typical move by the Cubs. Their future is a 22 year old SS who is playing really well in his first full season in MLB, so they take another SS. Nice.

quote:

I know you dont draft for need but SOB!

The Cubs draft the one position on the entire roster that they look good at going forward.

Get ready. I would be shocked if they did not reach to be honest.

Never said I was blameless zero faith in front office at that time. That's the only one I saw scrolling threw about 10 or so pages besides this one below.

stros got something up their sleeves

Going back to the cheap nacho cheese. Frick Drayton he sucks
see zero faith in the front office at the time to make any correct choices.
