Natural Gas Grill?

Had a gas line run to my patio for a new grill which I have not bought yet. Is it really worth it to spend $1,000 or more for a grill? I would say we will use the grill 2 to 3 times a week. What grills would you recommend? TIA

Weber Genesis e-310
Worth every penny. Get hot and stay hot, maintain temperature really well (I baked a pie on mine last year because I didn't want to heat up the kitchen)- I have a Summit (larger grill), but they're all basically made the same after the Spirit.

Weber Genesis. Under $1000 and will last a very long time.

shitty organization, I never give them a thing. They front like they are a charity when they are a private company with a millionaire CEO.

While there is no need to spend as much money as I'm about to suggest, if you have the extra dough you can't go wrong with a TEC grill. I bought a TEC Patio II a few years ago when I had some extra cash, and it's the best grill I've ever had. Infrared and bad arse. It takes a couple of times to learn how to control the heat, but it is absolutely terrific.

Yes. If you want to stay $1000 or less, I would reccomend a Weber Genesis. If you are looking for custom built-ins, then their are lots of options for that, too.

LSUGUMBO, how hot does your genesis get? I have one, but it takes alot of preheating to get it around 500 deg. I haven't got it over 550 deg. yet

I believe he said he has a Summit, which is the same grill I have. Mine maxes out the thermometer, which I belive is 800 degrees.
550 degrees is plenty hot to sear meat on the grill, though. Are you not happy with the results?

I'm happy with the grill, just wish it would be hotter. I would have to have a grease fire for it to get up to 800 deg
I've read some genesis reviews online with the same problem

Yeah I have the Summit and I have no problems getting it to 650-700 in 5-10 minutes running NG. I wonder if it's a NG vs Propane issue? Which one is yours?

Dont get drunk and leave those last 6 chicken wings cooking for 12 days the day before you left for vacation.
Gas bill will equal somewhere around 500 bucks that month....
Dont ask me how I know....

The Weber heat distribution and retention is so good that they don't need to get that hot. I had a Genesis about 10 years ago - it was the equivalent of the Weber Spirit, today. I think it got up to 500 - 550 degrees. Loved it.
Don't worry about the number. 500 degrees will burn the crap out of your steak, if you're not careful. It is also a higher temp than many grills with higher BTU's.

I can vouch for this, my Weber gets hot and holds it

You'll be happy with that. If I was me, and I was looking to buy a grill, that's the one I would buy. Fortunately, I won't be looking for another grill for a long time. My 10 year-old Summit has a nickel sized hole burned through on the side of the cook box (I use it 3-4 times a week). Weber is sending me a brand new cook box. Same thing happened to the lid about a year ago. They sent me a new one of those, too. So I have what is essentially a brand new grill. I can't say enough about Weber's customer service.
It is a solid grill. The new Genesis grills are a step up from the old Genesis grills, which were just like the Spirit grills today - with the knobs on the side, instead of the front).
Let us know how it cooks.
