Tea Party to Ted Cruz: Stop the lies.

quote:

From the Huffington Post
When a tea party organization calls Texas Senator Ted Cruz a liar, it must be a "pants on fire" moment. According to Politifact, Cruz has had many of these moments. Cruz exercised his freedom speech at a tea party Watchmen on the Wall gathering.

From Raw Story:
“This year, I’m sorry to tell you, the United States Senate is going to be voting on a constitutional amendment to repeal the First Amendment,” Cruz said, to the audible shock of the crowd.

The audible shock of the crowd turned to sharp criticism of the rookie Senator by tea party members who were obviously educated about the proposed amendment:

“It explicitly says nothing in this new amendment shall abridge the freedom of the press.”
Locally, members of the Tea Party have been more outspoken:

"We sent Cruz to Washington to speak the truth, not lie to us. When he lies to our face it makes him look stupid and unreliable. It makes us look like a bunch of ignorant fools. If he is willing to lie to those who sent him to Washington, who else will he lie to?"

"If Cruz is going to continue to embarrass the Tea Party with his outrageous lies, then maybe he needs to just shut the hell up. I'm tired of being lied to by any politician."

"You have to be a pretty big idiot to believe Congress is going to repeal the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. You would think that as an attorney, Cruz would know better than to say something this stupid."

You can't believe anything anyone says now a days.

Ted Cruz is nothing more than a state politician. He really doesn't have the chops or legs to make it on the national level. I like him and he fits Texas and its values well but that's it.

I agree, he fits at the state level but that's it.

His former professor is impressed with his intelligence.

quote:

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas): “Off-the-charts brilliant. And you know, liberals make the terrible mistake, including some of my friends and colleagues, of thinking that all conservatives are dumb. And I think one of the reasons that conservatives have been beating liberals in the courts and in public debates is because we underestimate them. Never underestimate Ted Cruz. He is off-the-chart brilliant. I don’t agree with his politics.”

He's running hard to the Right. He figures he can inspire more "take back our country" types to get out than the moderates and independents he'll lose.

I don't like his particular ideology, but I think he strategy is pretty solid.

What does his intelligence have to do with his lying? Are you suggesting smart people don't lie???

Alan is a pretty smart guy. I think he propped up Sarah Palin and Rick Perry and Hermain Cain when they too were the 'flavors of the month.'

Hmm...

everything about that article seems legit. anonymous quotes and an ammendment that everyone is familiar with except the reader.

if Cruz is, in fact, lying, wouldn't that mean that he is qualified for national politics? Otherwise, that's a hell of a standard to hold one man to.

This. Wasn't it the current VP telling Virginian black voters that the GOP wanted to 'put the chains back on'?

He's an intellectual giant, so as stupid as the nation is in general, you're probably right.

Pretty sure this is hand in hand with Congress defining who is a "journalist" to be afforded freedom of the press (specifically, protection from having to reveal sources)
