remember....tomorrow is to honor those that DID NOT return.

thanking vets are fine but, let's not forget what memorial day is really for.

I agree, we have a separate day called Veterans day. You should thank a vet everyday though.

Saying "happy Memorial Day" isn't far from congratulating someone at a funeral.

Memorial Day isn't a happy day, it's one for memory. And grilling.

Grandfather just passed couple weeks ago. Retired Army Sergeant. At the burial a 20 year old kid played taps, marched over to my mom and presented with my grandfathers flag to her on one knee. Can't tell you how incredible it was. So this Memorial Day is for my grandfather.

My uncle is a veterinarian. He always looks at me strangely when I tell him thanks for his service.

We should have a designated day where minorities thank taxpayers

I'm not a minority, and I pay taxes, but Thanks.

You seem like you need the attention.

I do NOT understand why people can't get this.

It is NOT NOT NOT Veteran's Day ... my husband said that he had a discussion with some mid 30 yo guys at a place of business that he deals with. They were like "what is the difference?".

Irks me really ... and I love Veterans. My dad is a Vet. My grandfather was a Vet. I have friends that are Vets. BUT they all came home.

The ones that died in war, or is it ok to remember the ones who returned and since died? Which ones to remember?

Did they know they would be coming home though?

I obviously understand the sentiment, but to say it's not about other veterans who gave of themselves, some with mental scars lasting a lifetime.

How about POW's? They returned. Are we considering them as well?

I don't have to have a caveat on what Memorial day means to me. It's the sacrifice they've all given.

I look at Memorial Day as anyone that served our country and is no longer living. Some might say it only applies to KIA but I like to think of it as a day that you remember any one solider no longer with us.

So what if they came home, and then died later in life? That's Memorial Day, right. Memorial Day isn't just for those KIA right?
