Is there an ex out there that makes your heart stop?

I just was eating lunch and had no idea I was sitting next to an old college sweet heart. We had a bad break up and she got married 6 months after we broke it off. I always felt like she married him to spite me. I have put on a little weight (30 lbs) and wear glasses now. I do not think she saw me. I keep my head down looking at my phone the whole lunch. I was eating at pizza place at a table right next to her. I looked up and she was talking to a lady right beside me. My heart stopped. It has been 20 years since we dated. I am married and have 4 kids. She is married and has 3 kids. I have seen her maybe 3 times in that period and it has been over 10 years since I last saw her. Crazy shite!

She was with her kids and her mom. Her mom fricking hates me. My wife knows about how much I loved in back in the day. No way in hell I was going to risk talking to her...

At first. Now, I see her in a serious relationship heading for marriage, when I just wasn't ready for that. So it gives me a sense of relief.

The only one that would apply to me lives in another state so I know there's no chance I'll ever see her. If I were to somehow see her out my heart would probably race for a minute, but I would go out of my way to avoid seeing or talking to her. No need to have any uncomfortable small talk.
