I want to be able to check my score without them signing me up for a contract and charging my card every month. I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg. Suggestions?

CreditKarma works for me and they've never asked for a credit card.

by law you are entitled to a free credit score once a year. if you sign up at say experian, you get all three. just cancel right away and pay nothing. use a junk email account to avoid spammage

Call your bank. They'll give it to you. Mine does anyway.

Not accurate and many times, not even in the same ballpark.

I have an 802 FICO score with Equifax (my middle score). CreditKarma (FAKO) provided me with a score of 711 last time I checked.

no not your credit score. Karma provides that. Law only requires credit REPORT.. No score.

CreditKarma seems to run a good bit below my Experian score.

Correct.

Besides, you don't really need your score. What you do need to keep an eye on is your report, to make sure everything on it is correct.

This.

A good credit score is the result and not the goal.

If you live your life in a way that is conducive to becoming wealthy, you won’t have to worry about your credit score. Pay your bills on time; pay off your debt and save money. Do that and you will be well on your way towards building wealth and not your credit score. Focus your energy on activities that will make you wealthy in the long run and your credit will take care of itself. It’s really that simple.

When you pay to have all 3, yes. Not sure what you're asking because Experian has always been given when I ordered all 3 from myfico.com.

He's referring to the fact that the Experian score used to not be available for the general public to buy. You could purchase Equifax and TransUnion from MyFico but not Experian. That changed in June of last year and now you can buy all 3 again.

Like others have said you can use CreditKarma but the score isn't a true FICO score and may it may not be anywhere near your actual FICO score. It's a good tool for tracking your credit report and making sure no fraudulent activity is going on. You can buy your scores from MyFico.com. I have a Discover It card and Barclay card which come with free monthly FICO scores but they're both TransUnion I believe.

Karma is great because it's free and I love the 'what if' tools.

Maybe you don't consider the score important but it's useful to have some idea of it ahead of time if you're getting ready to take out a loan with different interest rates based off score.

Also I always closed older credit accounts I no longer used and discovered that's actually a negative..I didn't realize that until getting on this site.

Not true. On the last several credit pulls I've had done..the karma score has always been somewhere in the middle of the 3 'official' scores I've been sent through the mail.

The most recent was last year when I refinanced my mortgage.
