Sterling to sue NBA

The NBA moved to force the sell of the Clippers. A vote will happen on June the 3rd.
However, Sterling has already responded that he will sue the NBA.
This is an article, but it's the VIDEO at the bottom of the article you want to play.
Evidently, the man has a STRONG case to take to court. The language is very much so in favor of Sterling.

This'll be interesting. They're not used to someone fighting back when they try to destroy them.

Which is worse/illegal? Blackmail or prejudice?

Basic contract law...
Ambiguity in a contract is construed AGAINST the party that furnished its language.

As has been stated by dozens of legal types across many different networks the last few weeks, he has zero chance of actually coming out on top here if his gial is to do anything more than waste the NBA's time.

I don't care about Sterling, I don't care that he has a piece 50 years younger than him. I don't care if he is a bigot. But what the NBA is trying to do to him is ridiculous. I hope he does sue, wins, gets a settlement from the other owners and then sells the team.

Apparently the opposite is also true. The NBA maintains wide discretion when it comes to this kind of thing b/c of their bylaws. There have been a hundred other talking heads (who are also attorneys) that claim he doesn't have a leg to stand on in court.
I'm glad he is suing FWIW b/c although I disagreed with his statement, what he said in private is his business and was in no way official Clippers biz. It's not like that whorse-faced woman was an employee either.

And as this legal "type" stated.....

I'm glad he is suing and I hope he wins.

Unless something changes, we are going to see a huge fight. The decision of the court will set the stage for either riots or for thought censorship.
Do you see any other way to view this?

Good for him. He should sue the NBA clearly hates rich Jewish people.

Was she ever arrested and charged? Her recording him without his knowledge has to be illegal.

Why?
He has been warned about his behavior a number of times in the past. He was specifically warned a few years ago that the next 'racial' issue would see him being expelled from the league.
It's unfortunate that he was exposed in this way - via blackmail, via an invasion of privacy - but let's be realistic, here.
Sterling belongs to an exclusive, private business. He is a franchise owner... and his ownership will be stripped because his continued presence is a commercial liability moving forward.
If the league has the legal framework to boot him from ownership, what leg does he have to stand on? Are we going to step in and prevent private businesses from operating as they privately deem best...?
Sterling's privacy isn't the only slippery slope on display, IMO.

Those same legal types said the same thing about bountygate and we know how that turned out. Don't get me wrong this is a whole different animal, but its impossible to make that statement without seeing what Sterling has as evidence of his defense. If he can find just one or two Racist and/or homophobic comments made by a current owner or their spouse he may have a better case than you think. The NBA will have a hard time arguing why this case was different than that.
Because the media cared more won't be an acceptable argument

That's what a lot of people are overlooking. Excellent catch.
You can certainly "take sides" but if you're not a fan of things like "legislating from the bench" or "government interfering in private businesses" then hoping Sterling wins is kind of an odd choice.

A courtroom full of white men arguing over their white guilt.

Because I don't think having racist views should disqualify a person from owning a business any more than a persons belief in life on Mars should. People have different opinions about things and that's not illegal.

That is a very valid point - and Michael Jordan recently admitted to hating white people, or something along those lines.
I have to believe if there were other racial incidents among the current ownership in the NBA - hell, any 'big four' sports for that matter - we'd have heard / read about it already.
Sterling is a divorce lawyer by trade. He'll sue 'cuz he damn well feels like it.
