Share your experiences with reliability, service, etc. Would you buy the brand again? Have you ever done any off roading?

I am really digging the LR4:

Generally speaking as a non owner.

Known for horrible reliability.

Who buys an expensive arse car like that then drives it off in the mud? A retard, that's who. Buy a jeep for that dumb shite.

If you have to ask, then you will never know.

2008 new enough? Range rover sport supercharged. Had it a little over a year. Put 20k miles on it bought it with 58k. Awesome truck absolutely zero issues.

But the OT will tell you they suck and are unreliable without any actual evidence. Oh except every neighbor, cousin, friend, had one and "it was always in the shop"

Good friend of mine has one.

When it needs new tires, it's back to a King Ranch he says.

He likes it. It's a fine car but tons of little problems. Plus the high angle of the windshield leaves it getting cracked all time and they are +$1000ish to replace.

I'm a car salesman. So take anything I say with a grain of salt. But I have sold many of them. They are garbage man. Don't buy one.

Yeah that and beyond are about the timeframe. I know the earlier Discos and old Rovers had problems.

Land Rover is made by TaTa Motors. Have you seen a TaTa?

I had an old Range Rover that I put 150k miles on it and did the work on it myself. I loved it, great size and a good reliable vehicle. I would have checked the oil and driven it across the country on a day's notice if needed.

My suggestion about the LR4 is making sure you are close to a dealership with a good service department. The only one in Alabama is Tom Williams and they are absolutely shitty to deal with. The parts department are good people but their service department are absolutely dickheads. Hennessey in Buckhead is supposed to have a good service department (from what I have heard anyway, no direct dealings with them like Tom Williams).

If you don't live close to a dealership, either you need to talk to some local import guys to see if they work on them or you need to be able to work on them yourself. Like any car, they will have gremlins but it is just harder to find people with the computers to service them due to the computers being stupid expensive. A complete computer to work on my 99 RR HSE, it would have cost me around 20k to get the LR Workbook or about 5 to 6k on the knockoff service software.

They have thin metal woven in to the glass that jacks the price up. I thinks it's part of the defrost system and glare reduction. You have to look close to see it. It may not even be on the lower end models.

Well, you can get good deals on ones that aren't that old and don't have that much mileage, so it should tell you something.

I wouldn't buy a Land Rover, X5, etc. unless reliability is at the bottom of your list.

For the guy who said "no actual evidence" he is presumably discounting most ever major car publication which notes LR's shitty reliability.
