One of the poll’s significant findings was that 29 percent of the African-Americans surveyed said they would back the tea-party senator. Paul carried 13 percent of the African-American vote when he defeated Kentucky attorney general Jack Conway in his Senate race in 2010. John McCain carried just 4 percent of the African-American vote in 2008; Mitt Romney performed little better in that demographic, winning 6 percent of the black vote in 2012. This suggests that some of Paul’s outreach to the minority community — speeches at Howard University, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a push to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences for some drug offenders — is having an impact.

Pretty much the only viable candidate for the Republican Party.

If Clinton is only losing to Paul in KY by 4 points, then she's looking at a 40 state victory. PPP recently polled Arkansas, and she was winning there as well against all republicans.

For some reason, you white southerners have an affinity for the Clinton family. Makes me want to vomit profusely.

Message to GOP:

The first thing you need to do is GO MEET AND GREET different demographic groups instead of only white middle class. Break out of your comfort zone. Stop the pandering amnesty votes and the like thinking that it will win you votes. You actually have to go meet people, shake hands, kiss babies, converse and understand the various issues. Teach different groups how your ideas will solve their issues. Get some f'n feet on the ground and go meet people. This is how you build credibility and most of all trust.

This. Just going off memory but Obama lost Kentucky by 15-25 pts in 08 and 12.

I could see Rand taking Colorado and NH or something. But Clinton picking off something in the south.

Maybe the Clintons will run pretty hard in KY, AR, and NC and lose those states while Rand takes the swing states.

She has benefitted from being the "early favorite" in polls due to mass uncertainty to who the GOP candidate will be.

She won't win any typical red states...not after how horrible Obama's term has been.

If Paul gets 29% of the black vote with the typical white vote turnout for the GOP Dems are toast.

This is only going to push democrats to ante up the race politics to an unprecedented level and make the election even more uglier when a sure thing voting bloc is withering by the percentage for them.

I can't wait to see this shite show play out.

The poll does suggest that, among Republicans, Paul has the most reach with young voters. Clinton leads Bush and Huckabee by 21 and 11 points respectively among 18- to 29-year-olds, but Paul ran even with her among voters in that demographic, with both earning 43 percent of the vote.

This is telling. Obama won because of the young vote and black vote..if Paul were to get 29% of blacks and tie with young voters he would win in a landslide unless Clinton was able to swing a huge portion of middle class older white folk....which isn't likely if you look at recent voting tendencies.
