I don't know why people hate on Coldplay so much. Maybe because they are so popular and people want to act like hipsters. I find their songs very catchy and enjoyable so I like listening to them.

I really like "magic" - I also like what I've heard of their album so far.

I also don't quite get the hate - it's not like they're Nickelback or something... they make really good thoughtful music and they purposely try to experiment and branch out.

I saw this thing thing starting to happen with arcade fire on their last album and tour - The critical backlash despite a great album and the backlash from "hip" music folks like our own heady broosevelt.

Some bands like 9 inch nails can put out shitty albums and avoid criticism indefinitely and some bands like U2 Coldplay arcade fire are a magnet for criticism.

It's all because the 40 year old virgin

But yeah I'm a fan of Coldplay as well. My favorite songs by them tend to be the non radio ones. But I like them for the most part. Very uplifting and feel good songs. And a lot of solid musicians in the band.

Will Champion is the fricking man And he's not even a true drummer. He said he's "the best non playing drummer ever" he's just a super talented musician that pretty much plays everything. Literally had no experience on the drums really. In fact, they came to his apartment because his roomie was a drummer and they needed a drummer when they recorded. He wasn't there, so Will said screw it I'll jump on the drums And that's all she wrote. He's a great musician.

Will and Buckland, the guitarist, are awesome.

Really could do without the Chris Martin solo acoustic though.
