Small fiesty athlete that always gave it 100% on the field/court and seemed to come up with big plays.

Both of theses guys has multiple suspensions before they got the ax.

While I'm disappointed in losing Hickey for next year I can appreciate his intensity and fearlessness. He was huge in our win over Kentucky this year which highlighted the season.

Best of luck Anthony.

He wasn't a all time great, but when they needed a big shot or buzzer beater the team looked to Hickey and I can respect that for better or worse.

Mathieu is one of the best players in LSU football history and a catalyst to a team that played in the National Championship.

Hickey was a solid player and nothing more.

I was emphasizing their dismissal. People who actually watched LSU basketball can look back and appreciate what Hickey brought to the table.

In no way was he as great at TM7 but still a fun player to watch.

Not exactly.
One of the complaints against Hickey is that he didn't always give 100%. It was great of him to showup for the Kentucky games, but not all there for the rest of them.
Overall I'd say a pretty poor comparison.

I've clarified that Hickey wasn't nearly as decorated as TM7 but he was the spark plug the last few years on the basketball team.

I said esque, that doesn't mean exactly.

I liked Hickey, bummed to see him go, but I mean c'mon man.

It's closer to the Pokey Chatman dismissal.

Mathieu was a defensive, Heisman finalist, had one of the most amazing highlight reel seasons ever, his dismissal probably cost us the next season's NC, and he was a national sensation. Hickey was a pretty decent 5' something PG for a middling SEC basketball team.

Eta...and sure, they were both "feisty."
