Been meaning to write a review. Me and my girl went for dinner. Really cool space. Food was pricey but you get a lot. Eggplant caponata was damn good. As was the seafood pasta. Best feature is, similar to Bacchanal, they sell bottles of wine at just above retail prices.. Actually cheaper than bacchanal. And there's a wide selection. Had a good barbera for $24 bucks. Walk around the restaurant and check out all the racks of wine. Then You bring it to the table Nd the open it for you. Awesome concept and really helps out with the bill. The staff and owners and good people too. I'll be back!

Is this the same Marcello's that was in Southdowns in BR? The concept and menu sounds similar. If so I will get over there ASAP.

Yep. I wish he would've stayed here in BR.

Bump

Nola had a small write up today, which included links to the lunch and dinner menu.

The elements on the plate at Marcello's are familiar: tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, pasta, mozzarella. This is not the unadorned cooking of many newer Italian restaurants. Nor is it New Orleans' deeply rooted Creole Italian. Marcello's makes "red sauce," not "red gravy." And the menu looks like a culinary hit parade: eggplant caponata, marsala braised pork cheeks over angel hair pasta or a delicate cioppino seafood stew. But from the kitchen of chef Blakley Kymen, these versions are lush, layered and confidently executed.

I'm really excited to try this place. Think it has some potential.

we had both of these and I was very impressed. also the tritone was rich as hell but quite delicious. it should be pretty high on anyone's list of new places to eat.

Same family. The menu is a little different in NOLA.
