One would think the Dolphin player would be smarter about what they let loose on social media.

The Dolphins and NFL aren't going to mess around with this type of thing. Jones was fined and suspended from all team activities until he completes educational training for his Twitter comments.

quote:

“I want to apologize to Michael Sam for the inappropriate comments that I made last night on social media. I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment. I remember last year when I was drafted in the seventh round and all of the emotions and happiness I felt when I received the call that gave me an opportunity to play for an NFL team and I wish him all the best in his NFL career. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Ross, my teammates, coaches, staff and fans for these tweets. I am committed to represent the values of the Miami Dolphins organization and appreciate the opportunity I have been given to do so going forward.”

All he tweeted was the word "horrible" in regards to Sam's kiss. The world has officially jumped the shark

Jones, a second-year strong safety who had 10 tackles in 16 games last year, tweeted "omg" right after ESPN showed Sam's reaction to being drafted. According to thephinsider.com, when asked on Twitter if he was referring to Sam kissing his boyfriend, Jones tweeted, "horrible."

Can't find anything worthy of a suspension

I was expecting way worse, but I'm honestly not shocked he got in trouble for saying horrible.

He has been fined and suspended for two tweets: "omg" and "horrible."

On top of that, he won't be reinstated by the Dolphins until he completes an educational training course on diversity and acceptance.

I am legitimately mad right now and I rarely get mad at anything not involving me.

Lol there's nothing wrong with that tweet. It's okay to be against homosexuality if you believe it is wrong, unnatural, a sin, or whatever. You can't legislate how people should believe in their hearts. That's called totalitarianism.

This is the time when the union needs to earn their dues fees.

But, real talk, this is just some example making by a team in need of an image makeover. Being temporarily barred from voluntary workout sessions is far from a stiff punishment.

Vaccaro tweeted "Oh my" when it happened. Glad the Saints aren't dumb enough to punish him for it.

training huh?

so nowadays you can get in trouble for tweeting without any name calling or profanity?

I can see why the Dolphins might overreact though, their image took a hit during the whole Incognito/Martin nonsense.

but the NFL can frick right off.

It's okay to be out of the closet. It's okay to be against homosexuality. It's called DIVERSITY. We all come from different walks of life, experiences, etc. The focus should be on equality of process/treatment. That's all.
