Is college baseball changing too much/quick for any 1 coach to "figure it out"??

Once the NCAA gets to the pro ball will they leave the game alone long enough so the dominant money programs like us can adjust and consistently dominate again??

Not sure there will need to be an adjustment at all
Posted on 5/11/14 at 10:19 pm to ell_13
Well the adjustment we need would be regardless of the ball used.

You worded that roughly, but I think I agree with you

Yeah I was struggling to phrase it right

I guess I'm giving CPM the benefit of the doubt for now, suggesting maybe the game has changed to much too quick

WUT? So the game is changing too much and too fast that ULL can handle it, yet somehow LSU can't?
The problem starts when you base success on hosting a regional or super regional, instead of the real prize. I get it hosting makes life easier, but not hosting is not the end of the world.
Perhaps, some research in history would show the during the Skip era we lost about 15 games per season....and the first LSU scratch of greatness was TRAVELING and WINNING against Texas A&M.
It's baseball. Sometimes the more talented team doesn't win.

Well this recruiting class coming in certainly has more power guys than the last few classes

Yeah if they end up here.
We need some power arms on the pitching staff too. Who other than Nola or Broussard can consistantly hit 90?

We should be getting Newman and Reynolds back next season

Bugg and Poche could be up there as well.

True. Like I said in another thread I think the coaches have squeezed about all they can out of this pitching staff this year.

WTF? I don't understand the question.
However, there can't be more than 2 "dominant money programs" in NCAA baseball, so I doubt anyone cares.

Flat seamed balls next year, correct?

Rosenblatt Stadium has as much to do with designing your team to win an NC as the bats and balls.
I have a feeling CPM walked away from the CWS last year with a mindset to win in Omaha and in that park.

First of all college coaches are smarter than you and me are.
Secondly "figuring it out" and geting the absolutely perfect player in the absolutely perfect position is really hard.
Third the NCAA is a cluster f>>k so I have no illusions that they have any idea what they are doing. Except for making money for themselves.
Fourth having a lot of money is no guarantee of anything. Think Texas.

It's not the bats and it won't be the ball that LSU is having trouble with.
Philosophy - hard to gauge b/c the execution is inconsistent.
Approach - obvioulsy a problem. Plate discipline is something we haven't excelled at in some time. Too many pop ups/routine fly balls. Rarely see a ball hit behind the runners, etc.
Hitting for Avg - that's a dead horse.
Hitting for power - ok, some of that is the bats but other teams are hitting more dingers with lesser players.
Nepotism is an ugly disease.

Agree. Brad Hawpe would still be a great college hitter in 2014, regardless of the bats and balls, because of his approach at the plate. 36 doubles in 2000. Meanwhile we have hitters in 2014 still looking to take it out of the park with every at bat.

All jokes aside is CPMs friendship with javi the root that we're coming to?
