Boss invited me yesterday to a business dinner tonight. I need a solid reason i can't go so I can go home and watch the draft.

And no....I can't just say AIDS....

Invite denotes 'not mandatory' in my opinion. Not problem here...tell him thanks, but no thanks.

Invited to a business dinner. That's an "invitation", but not a good one to casually turn down, depending on your status at the company of course.

AIDS is pretty fool-proof, unless you're in the porn industry.

Are you a lawyer? Because that's a good tie-in to a joke I heard before....

Say you feel under the weather and you're afraid it might be a stomach bug.

What time is the business dinner? Unless this is an unually late dinner, you should be home in time to catch the Saints pick at 27 anyway

If it will help further you along in the company and advance your career...I'd go. I can DVR the draft. Plus I have a phone that I can keep track of the picks. Plus ALL of my friends would text me the pick anyway

Dinner at 6. Best case scenario has me at home by 9:30. I think ill DVR and attempt to avoid "spoilers." Ill likely fail in doing so and just watch the Saints pick and ODB getting drafted.

You're still at work. At 4:30, shite in your pants and tell him that you don't feel so well.

Yeah....I wouldn't be able to do it either

I'd be checking my phone every 10 minutes on the dot. Missing the draft sucks but you have to figure that it won't affect your life in any way whatsoever. Attending this dinner could affect it in a very positive way. There's a reason your boss invited you (let's just hope it wasn't to fire you in a public setting so you don't kick his arse)
