Warning, this is a lot of reading. But I'm thoroughly entertained by everything in this article.
quote:

SCOTT MILANOVICH, backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Xtreme and first player ever drafted in the XFL. Now the coach of the Toronto Argonauts:

We were playing in the championship game. I think they called it the Million Dollar Game, so if you won, you got an extra $25,000. We were winning heavily, heavily enough that I actually went into the game in mop-up time (the Xtreme beat the San Francisco Demons, 38-6).

So at the end of the game — I'm actually embarrassed to tell this story now — I'm in the game, and I'm calling my own plays. I'm just trying to run out the clock and get the heck out of there. The game was over. There was no chance they were going to come back.

They kept blitzing us. All of our running backs were getting killed. And they were calling timeout. I finally got irritated enough that I drew up a play in the huddle: a halfback pass. It wasn't even in our game plan. I was upset that they kept blitzing us and calling timeout. Anyway, long story short, it went for a touchdown. People on the other side of the field weren't thrilled with me.

As bush as the XFL was, I gotta say I loved how they decided who got the ball to begin the game.

I still remember sitting in the parking lot of Legion Field tailgating for an XFL game. My first time there.

That place is a shithole.

Well, here's one that's TRYING to get started: A11FL. They're even using some of the old USFL names.

Still crazy that in North America there is only 2 pro football leagues with all the talent that is out there.

CFL is really starting to take a foothold in Canada again too so I could see a third one starting up and doing alright.

The A-11?

Isn't that the offense where everyone is an eligible receiver?

You damn right. The XFL might of had the best set of overtime rules I have ever seen in football.

I really enjoyed the XFL. People just couldn't accept it wasn't as good as the NFL. Well, no crap. But the quality of play was pretty good, and it was just the first year. They were definitely the best league in the spring.

It was entertaining as hell. Loved that the announcers cussed.

Like they said in the article.

A minor league system for the NFL would be beneficial.

Didn't someone get pretty badly hurt doing a scramble for the ball?
