Do you believe that the Republican Party today stands for limited government?

Looking at these exit polls/interviews in North Carolina and its pretty bad news for us who believe in reducing the size and scope of government.
Even self identified tea partiers/conservatives voted for the establishment backed, amnesty supporting Tillis in North Carolina. Their #1 issue? Electability. Looks like the establishment found the kryptonite for tea partiers and conservatives, just run non stop ads with the elecatbility mantra and you can get any RINO nominated/elected.
I am guessing that too many conservatives actually believe that simply electing any Republican will advance the cause of limited government and lower spending, and this is why we are doomed.
I believe that today's Republican Party, especially at the leadership level, does not support reducing the size and scope of government. Because these Republicans are just as entrenched and addicted to the power and money as democrats and will not support policies or measures that reduce their grip.
There might be individual candidates that stand for reducing the size and scope of government but are vastly outnumbered by those who only want to use their seat as a way to enrich themselves and their cronies.

The party as a whole - absolutely not. There are a few individuals like Rand Paul that do.

People like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz provide some reason for optimism but the party, as a whole, is in need of serious reform. Still, I would vote R over D on nearly every occasion that presents itself.

Historically? Yes.
Today? Nope.
Just Democratic Party Lite (less filling and does not taste as good).

Other than the sequester/debt ceiling "cuts", neither party has cut a damn thing since the 1980s - and even then the cuts were nullified by additional military spending so the net was essentially 0.

They like to think they do, but no, they don't.
Similar to how the Dems love to slam the oil companies and think they're fighting for environmental issues then turn around and use more oil in one week than the average family does in a year.

There are few fiscal conservatives in today's Republican party.

I used to think this way, but not anymore.
After holding my nose and voting for McCain(and only because of Sarah Palin) in 2008 I said no more.
Since then I have only voted for candidates I believe will fight for liberty and limited government. I refuse to be part of the problem and continue to send entrenched career politicians back into office where they will turn their back on the Republican party platform.

Yeah, and they usually get ostracized by their own party for rocking the boat.

sarah palin is not a fiscal conservative by any stretch of the imagination. She rapidly expanded the role of gov't in alaska. No reason to think she would do differently on a national stage.

Good for you, I made this choice in 2006. After watching 2000 and 2004 unfold, I determined it was "never again" would I vote for someone b.c they were fighting the evil of two lessers. I am going to vote for a candidate that represents my set of beliefs, nothing less will do.
It really pisses my friends off.

Hell no. They're just the republican wing of the socialist party.

They front as limited government social conservancies but in reality act according to the interests of their corporate pay masters.

By and large, yes. As a matter of practice, no.
Most Republicans have fiscally conservative ideologies. But, when confronted with politically difficult situations, money is one of the things that need not be much of a limiting factor. Thus, it is really easy for them to spend their way out of problems or pile on debt during negotiations to get something they want.
The GOP absolutely stands for limited government. Maybe not as limited as you'd like, and certainly not as limited as they proclaim, but those who think deep down most GOP elected officials favor large government are just drinking TP kool aid.

In a word, NO!
They are not as bad as the Democrats, but they are getting close.

No. The Republican party isn't sure where it stands. It dislikes both Libertarian and Liberal views, but can't figure out if it want's smaller govt. or just different government.
