Looking over most lists, the consensus top 5 seems to be:

1. Jordan
2. Magic
3 - 5. Kareem, Russel, Bird (order changes)

But can Shaq or Duncan make a claim to enter the top 5? And who do you replace them with? Both players have all the necessary awards and hardware to warrant their choice.

So I'm thinking:

1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Shaq
4. Kareem
5. Duncan
6. Russel
7. Bird
8. Chamberlin
9. Oscar Robertson
10. Kobe

And Lebron right now is on the outside looking in due to him still having a long career left. One day though he will undoubtably be in the top 5, but I don't think will ever surpass Jordan, Magic, or Shaq.

I really think he is the best center of all time and was blessed with a blend of size, power, and agility that we will never see again.

LeBron will be >Duncan when all is said and done.

Don't get me wrong, there is a very legitimate argument that Duncan is the best PF of all time, but if it's just top-5 and position doesn't matter then no he is not.

Bill Russell would destroy Duncan.

Yeah, I'm afraid Shaq was a once in a lifetime type of player. Sucks, but I'm glad I got to live it.

Yeah, considering a prime Shaq as the best center of all time is certainly "wat" worthy

I seriously don't think he would, but obviously have no way of being 100% sure.

Duncan is a legit 7 ft and can score inside and out. A prime Duncan wouldn't get destroyed by anyone.

If there were an all-time draftm the only player I would pick over Shaq would be Jordan and that wouldn't be a no brainer. Honestly I would strongly consider Shaq.

He may not have had a top 5 career in terms of acheivements, but he was definitely a top 5 player.

How many titles did Shaq win before Kobe? The argument is always used against Kobe but never against Shaq.

Obviously other great centers couldn't overpower him, but skilled guys like Kareem, Russell, and Olajuwan would take him out of the paint. Shaq is a top 3 center of all-time (i have him over Olajuwan), but to say he's the best of all time, not so sure.

How many Finals MVP's did Kobe get when Shaq was a Laker?

Shaq is.

He dominated as a big man in an era with tons of huge, hall of fame talent big men.

Shaq gets misremembered often as I never hear people talk about his world class post-moves or his great passing ability. He was as technical as he was physically dominant.

I can't in good conscience put Shaq above Olajuwon. Olajuwon was as nearly dominant defensively as Shaq was offensively and Olajuwon's offense > Shaqs D.

would be tough, considering Duncan has 4 inches on him.
