I'll start with a couple

The Buccaneers accidentally draft Sean Farrell due to a communication issue between the draft room and their table in 1982

quote:

“We thought we needed both of those players, but after we mulled it over and discussed it, the selection was to go with Booker Reese. So I told Pat, I said, ‘Listen, Pat, you’ve got two names there.’ I said ‘We’re not going with Sean Farrell, we’re going with Booker Reese. Turn it in.’ But he didn’t hear the Booker Reese part of it because of the noise. He took it that we were going with Sean Farrell and turned it in.’’

The Vikings' clock runs out during the 7th overall pick of the 2003 draft.

quote:

By taking a "pass," the Vikings delayed their choice, but were permitted to then make it at any ensuing time.
But in frenzied flury in the minutes immediately following the Minnesota move, Jacksonville, choosing No. 8 overall, rushed in its card to pick quarterback Byron Leftwich.
In lightning time after that, Carolina jumped in to choose offensive tackle Jordon Gross.

Ditka trading every draft pick plus the next year's first and third for Ricky Williams

Jets draft blunders

Falcons trade up to take Vick. Chargers take Ladanian Tomlinson and Drew Brees with the picks they traded

What are some that I'm missing? Not just saying busts

couldn't this be seen as a wash? Neither team accomplished the ultimate goal of winning a SB Title with either picks.

Bree's wasn't a 1st ballot HOF while he was in SD. LT on the other hand was. Anyways, neither player accomplished the goal of bringing a title to San Diego.

It could have been worse...

The Bengals turned down the most attractive trade offer in their history Saturday to select Oregon quarterback Akili Smith with the third pick in the NFL draft.

After the Cleveland Browns chose Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch No. 1 and the Philadelphia Eagles took Syracuse quarterback Donovan McNabb at No. 2, the New Orleans Saints made one last-ditch effort to trade up from No. 12 and take Texas running back Ricky Williams.

With the Bengals on the clock, the Saints offered them nine picks: all of their picks this year, their first-round picks in 2000 and 2001, and a second-rounder in 2002.

Mike Brown explains his decision. Calling it the best offer he's ever had, Bengals President Mike Brown still opted to go for the 6-foot-2, 221-pound Smith and his spectacular senior season of 32 touchdown passes.

“It was a generous offer, but we felt now is the time to get the quarterback. We've been saying that all along,” Brown said.

Winner. I had no idea they had this offered to them. To turn that down has to be up there with some of the dumbest decisions in sports history.

I'd argue that making that offer is the dumbest thing in sports history.

Saints offering all those picks to Washington was dumb, but Washington out-dumbed themselves and squandered a great opportunity.
They could've been Dallas of the 2000's.

GMs get draft picks wrong. I don't necessarily crush them for that sort of thing.

But Ditka was a lazy POS. He just played golf all of the time. He told everyone he was going to get Williams then gave up a ridiculous amount to get him. Etc. I do blame GMs/Coaches for that sort of bullshite.

Ditka was the worst.

I think the ravens didnt get a first round draft pick sometime recently because they didn't submit a pick in time.

Thank god the Mueller regime after him was pretty much able to fleece to dolphins for some good picks in return.
