Another genius cop arresting somebody for exercising their constitutional rights

quote:

When 24-year-old Brooklyn resident Will Paybarah was stopped by police for running a red light on his bike on March 20, he was expecting a ticket or possibly just a warning—until he took out his phone. "When I tried to record my interaction with the officer I was arrested... in 10 seconds flat," he tells Gothamist.

quote:

I was told by another officer while in the car that recording a police officer was illegal because people are using iPhones as guns and shooting cops through the camera lens...I told him that I have the right to be recording a cop and he said that there were incidents, specifically in uptown Manhattan where a kid shot a cop with his iPhone. Straight face. Very serious.

Good. I hate bike riders that demand car drivers share the road with them and proceed to ignore every traffic law on the books.

He had to be messing with the guy, right? That level of ignorance is terrifying if not.

Meh in NYC it's a pretty petty issue to get mad at a biker for running a red light. If anything it gives them a head start so they aren't blocking traffic when the light turns green.

Now when they go the wrong way in the bike lane I get pissed off. You shouldn't have to look both ways to cross a 1 way street but you'll get nailed by some delivery guy if you dont

I like the first comment under the video that explains to us all why shooting a bullet out of an Iphone couldn't work.

In reality he was arrested for shooting a video in portrait mode. That should be an arrestable offense everywhere.
