He came into my work one day during the lockout. I said in a very jokingly manner, "Hey Coach, you going to go suit up overseas until this lockout is done?" His reply was very serious and quite snarky, "I don't play anymore." His wife on the other hand is really cool.

Monty just seems like kind of a private guy to me. I could see how he might come off as a dick because he doesn't really like attention.

Monty does have a rep among some of his neighbors as being a bit of an a-hole. But who knows?

I've heard a few stories but here is one. I'll try to be as vague as possible.
A much older man ran into Monty and his family at a local restaurant. He knows the wife and kids extremely well through his work. He came and said hello, shook Monty's hand, and gave the wife the old peck on the cheek.
After, Monty took him aside and whispered in his ear to never touch his wife again, and if he did, Monty would essentially frick him up. The old man was so stunned and will no longer work with his family.
I heard another, similar story from another person.
