Rex & Co., I need your help

part of my job is to encourage our employees to give to the United Way.
I have a really hard time selling this myself. I know that some of you are experts at spinning things, that I take a dim view of, into something that sounds half reasonable.
So, please tell me why the United Way deserves my money, and please grant me a license to plagiarize your work.
Thanks in advance,
TT

If they don't give, post a list of who didn't with the header of "List of people who hate impoverished people of color"

Just do like he did with his own insurance... He didn't want to pony up for his own and waited for others to subsidize him.
So tell everyone that already regularly contributes that their donations are by edict, increasing, and that those that don't give, will have donations made in their name for them
its a win/win

One of the 2 downvotes was mine on accident
On a serious note, the company my gf works for - they pay $10-$20/month as a "donation" and with that, they are allowed to wear jeans to work....but only if you donate. Also, they have a rotating parking spot "up front" that will swing your way every 2 months I believe. It's a good program overall b/c you get to wear jeans to work and it gives to a so-called good cause.

Tell them they're mandated to contribute or face severe fines if they failed to be part of the collective. Then delay implementation for those you favor most.

You ask this, but then proceed to:

eh, wrong, Rex & Co. don't want anyone giving to the United Way - they want all your "donated" money to go to the government because the government can help people out much more than the United Way can.
(I'm only slightly joking)

I prefer charities helping people over the government masquerading as a charity.
It's just that this particular charity gets into some areas that I find unsavory and so do many of our astute employees.
Charity isn't a tough sell. This charity is a tough sell.

then don't tell them to give to UW - I would pick a much more focused charity myself (something like Big Brothers Big Sisters, etc.)
The UW will always be the big brother on the block, and will always get the big Development campaigns

it's part of my job
I am trying to channel my inner Jay Carney.
its tough, look at this from their own website:
quote:
Organized labor is also part of the decision-making process at United Way Worldwide, with AFL-CIO representatives serving on the Board of Trustees.

Ok then, first think you need to do is find which organizations your local UW gives to, this is THE key to getting donations for the UW. Once you have figured that out - pick a handful of those organizations to highlight and talk about the benefits of those organizations, and how your donation helps support the organizations which enhance your community, which enhances everyone's life.
