So I remembered an article someone posted earlier about supernatural having a spin-off series coming soon.

Well, last night they had the episode it would spin off of. It's based off Chicago gangsters except instead of godfather style, Chicago is ran by 5 different monster families (Werewolves, Shapeshifters, Ghouls, Gins, Vampires??)

The episode seemed pretty interesting and the main cat seems like an alright actor. Anyone else check it out? What do you think of a future spin-off?

They already used the phone call from the dad. Kinda meh. Will give it a shot though.

Yeah, I was surprised they already added that twist before the series started. Guess they are trying to draw people in.

Kid's gonna end up joining his dad in some secret society of hunters to fight on da mean streets of chicago

Not so much of a twist as it is a straight repeat of the original.

Lost GF. Check
Missing dad. Check
Phone call from missing dad. Check
Family history of hunters. Check

Do they really expect supernatural fans to believe that Dean and Sam wouldn't be all over that shite ages ago?

I watched some of last night's episode but got bored. I doubt the new show will be any good.

smart idea for a spin off if you make a secondary story and then have it split off.

I'll watch it, Supernatural was ready to end at season 5 perfectly, but I like what followed and still DVR every week. (haven't watched yesterday's yet)

I agree. What makes Supernatural so great is Dean and Sam's brotherly love and joking around all the time.

This one doesn't appear to have that.

Yeah I completely forgot about the spin-off while I was watching it. I noticed the episode was odd, as in it focused more on someone elses story and not the winchesters and they were just kind of supporting characters. Similar to the episode where the 2 guys and girl become werewolves and videotape each other and all that shite.

Then finally when it ended I was like.. No way. This was that Chicago episode they were talking about earlier that would lead to a spin-off series

Yeah seasons 8 and 9 have definitely been an uptick from the dog shite they threw on screen in seasons 6 and 7. If season 5 hadn't been so amazing I probably would have quit.

If they're gonna do a spinoff I think Dean's vampire buddy Benny would be a good star. Might be cool to see a "good" monster fighting other monsters.

That's what they are going with. The shifter will help the other guy out. They will be the Sam and dean of the spinoff.

I never even understood what the point of Benny was. I feel like I'm really bashing Supernatural but I swear it's one of my favorite shows .

before Benny dean stood by the ideal that all monsters were bad. Benny opened his eyes to the fact that not all were pure evil.

This. Helped develop his character and also went well with the whole Purgatory story line and instead of adding random episodes with Sam and Dean going to bumfrick nowhere to kill ghosts it had Dean going to save Benny from vampires and shite.
