So how many owners vote for letting Sterling keep the team?

Pretty sad that if someone did have an issue with someone (however terrible they are) having their property taken, they probably couldn't vote against the commissioner due to being put under the media's microscope and also having to face their wrath and scorn.

The media should be an omnipotent observer, not a vengeful participant furthering an agenda. I'm not defending Sterling, but this has gone way overboard.

The thing that sickens me most about this whole situation is the hypocrisy. Every single person who are calling this guy out are guilty of the same thing in some form or fashion. I don't care who you are, you have had moments that you aren't proud of and are damn glad cameras/recorders weren't around to capture them.

None

Let me edit. None if it's a public vote. 3-5 if it's a private vote.

If its a public vote, not a single one.

If the votes are private, probably around 5 or so.

Do you actually think with the circus this has become it will be a private vote? And even it is and I'm an owner, no way in hell do I vote no, because you can damn well bet that the vote would be leaked.

With the way all of this was handled, I don't think there is any way that he survives the vote.

The owners cannot risk the players being rabbled into a frenzy by the media and talking heads, ending in them boycotting the upcoming season.

This shite is so blown out of proportion, it is ridiculous. The NBA should have fined him for his comments and then let the free market decide what happens. If all the sponsors pulled and players refused to play, he would quickly sell the team on his own.

The difference is, the moments that you aren't proud of don't threaten the financial standing of 29 billionaires.

Criticize the media all you want, but they are simply a reaction to the citizenry. By and large, the media's only goal is to make money, and they do so by covering "stories" which garner the most interest.

Racism in the NBA (only against blacks of course) garners interest. Agree with it or not, that is the current position of the market. So it's awfully short sighted of you to blame the media for simply running with the emotions that are already occurring within people.

Bottom line, Sterling's opinions represent a financial threat to a company in which he is a franchisee. His opinions were not uncovered in an ethical manner by any means, but he exposed himself to that possibility by keeping the company that he chose to keep. At the end of the day, he made a bad decision which exposed his personal views to be contrary to what the market demanded, and he paid the consequence for it. I don't see any reason to be upset with the media when the stories they cover are simply a reflection of the interest of those willing to pay for their coverage.
