Is Verizon screwing me over?

So my wife and I have a shared plan. We had 4GB data for months. Recently like clockwork we'd always get 3.8-4.2 GB per month. So two months ago, I upped our plan to 6GB. And last month my data was 5.9GB and this month I'll probably go over. This just doesn't seem like some coincidence. As soon as I change my data the next two months I am hitting levels I've never been close to? I'm not watching netflix or anything like that. Our behavior hasn't changed really in any way.
I'm at the point where I am thinking of just going over to tmobile. I've been a Verizon customer for 15 years, but I'm really thinking of going elsewhere.

You might want to check the T-Mobile reception in Tomball before switching.
T-Mobile is great within big city limits, but sucks elsewhere.

I'll have to ask my wife. She has an iphone so I don't think they can have multiple open at one time.
I only use 1 GB a month. Been that way throughout. My wife's phone is the one that always goes up. She listens to a lot of spotify, but i just don't buy her using 5 GB of data. And it isn't like her usage of spotify has dramatically increased in the last two months.

Use Wi-Fi....If I hit 250MB a month, something went wrong...

Spotify can eat up some data. I use it regularly and used quite a bit of my data.

Even though she may only be using one app at a time it doesnt mean they are closed out. This will help a bit. When I know I wont be around wifi I try to make sure all my apps are closed out.

I use spotify too but I don't use near the data she does.

I just really fail to see how all of a sudden, once I switch to 6GB, which I've never come close too.....now all of a sudden I am hitting 6GB.

You are able to see exactly what your usage is by the day, week and month right on down to each application and how much it's using, pretty easily, so it really shouldn't be a surprise. Just look and see what's eating up so much more.

Use your wifi at home and the wifi at work. You will never come close.
