Trevor Ariza is having the time of his life as the starting small forward of the Washington Wizards. Ariza will be a free agent beginning on July 1 and was asked if he wants to re-sign with the Wizards.
“I don’t know. It would be nice to come back here, but again, who knows what’s going to happen,” said Ariza told The Washington Post. “That’s not ... I don’t have to. Wherever I’m wanted. Whoever wants me on their team, I guess."
The Wizards will likely offer Ariza a new contract, however with Martell Webster and Otto Porter Jr. on the roster, the team won't break the bank to retain him. There reportedly have been rumors Ariza is hoping to be closer to home in Southern California, but that just seems to be speculation at this time.
Ariza, a 10-year NBA veteran, averaged 14.4 points, (40.7 percent on three-point attempts), 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season. In the first round series against Chicago he averaged 15.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
It sounds like he's open to playing elsewhere, but they seem to think he's targeting the West Coast. What a surprise

Translation: Money Talks. I'm pretty on the fence on Ariza. I caught most of the Bulls Wizards games, but only about half of each, and he seemed to choose the parts I didn't watch to do his scoring. So he honestly didn't look that impressive to me although his stat line was. I also wasn't very impressed with Martell Webster. He's got enough 3 (although he hasn't shot well in the playoffs), I'm just not sure he has enough defense.
