Another Take on the Sterling Saga

Many of you who are familiar with Jason Whitlock may not care for his occasional racial shite stirring (which he certainly does from time to time), but I thought there were some interesting nuggets in this column.
In our zeal to appear righteous or courageous or free of bigotry, a ratings-pleasing mob hell-bent on revenge turned Donald T. Sterling -- a victim of privacy invasion and white supremacy -- from villain to martyr.
Mob rule is dangerous. Well-intentioned, TV-baited mobs are the most dangerous. They do not consider the consequences of their actions, and they're prone to take a simple-minded, instant-gratification approach to justice rather than a strategic one.
The substantive meat of Sterling's Sex, Lies and Audiotape is his point about the culture that created his worldview. He is adhering to the standards of his peer group. He is adhering to the standards of the world he lives in. It's a world inhabited by all of us. It's a culture that shapes everyone's worldview on some level. It fuels the black self-hatred at the core of commercialized hip-hop culture, and is at the root of the NAACP's initial plan to twice honor an unrepentant bigot with a lifetime achievement award.

My question is what kind of racist has a Black/Hispanic girl friend and is completely okay with her sleeping with black guys? He needs to go back to Racist school.

that third paragraph italicized containing the phrase " fuels the black self-hatred at the core of commercialized hip-hop culture, and is at the root of the NAACP's initial plan to twice honor an unrepentant bigot" is certain to generate a shitload of page views

yeah ... epic fail.
Need to ban that guy for life from the KKK meetings.
We need a Democrat Leader to step up and make this happen.
I read the Whitlock article last night ... some good, some ... mehhh.

Yesterday, Chris Matthews posed an interesting question based on Mark Cuban's comments about the slippery slope that Adam Silver has put the NBA on. What if Sterling sues the NBA, and his lawyer puts all of the other owners under oath and asks if they've ever spoken disparagingly about any other racial, religious or ethnic group, women or homosexuals in private? I know that I couldn't honestly answer no to that question and I seriously doubt that any of the White billionaires that own the other 29 NBA teams can either.

I need some elaboration on this quote. I don't quite understand the "black self-hatred" part.

How is Sterling any different than slave owners from 200 years ago?

yep, that would be interesting to watch. it'll never get that far, though.

You have to read the entire thing, brah.

It appears to be a greater "rambling mess" than Sterling's, which was certainly a gigantic rambling mess.

Dude is in his EIGHTIES! Probably can't even get it up to screw his black GF. Probably can't remember what he had for lunch yesterday.
He is a villain to the PC crowed because he said some stupid shite to his GF in his own house.
He's probably in the early stages of dementia. He will die in the next couple or three years.
They're talking about making him sell the team. Poor fella....profit of around half a billion dollars. Maybe he will continue to donate to the NAACP and other democratic causes as he has for decades.
Or maybe he might get pissed off enough to stop the money flow to the race hustlers.

That's been my take on it too, Trackfan. Who here, on his/her worst day, has not said something in private that is dispicable, something they would regret if it was made public? What if all our dirty laundry was aired? It would be humiliating. We're only human. On our worst day, we say/think stupid things.
I think there are a lot of people in the mob judging Sterling for his statements that, if truth be told, have skeletons in their closet as well. Everyone will be taping people to produce their own 'gotcha' moment and it may come back to haunt the very ones leading the mob against Sterling. Once that happens, and it will, it will be interesting to watch how 'hate speech' is defended for some, and excoriated for others.

My observation is that white people had two reactions to all this shite:
1) "Deplorable" "Sickening" "Ignorant" "Fire Him" "Burn Him" "KILL Him" "ooo oooo ... look at ME ... I am a good guy ... I love all people ... please don't brand me"
2) "shite, not again. Dammit to hell. Well, I can pretend I don't care, which I really don't ... but, it is inevitable ... another chance to point at me and say, 'White ... BAD!' No matter what I say or do ... this always happens."

Agree completely. This was my point in the other thread.

Yes.

NO. We don't all share his experiences and his worldview. We aren't all billionaires with non-monogamous marriages. This invokes all white people. Typical Whitlock. I actually thought it was a good article up until this point.

White people should be wearing black socks, turning their T-shirts inside out, protesting outside the Staples Center. This is their culture, their Frankenstein. Or maybe they agree with Donald T. Sterling.

I agree. The article was going well ... and then it all went south.

That is my feelings too. Heck, didn't Magic Johnson treat women like meat for years and years?
